The Mariinsky

The Mariinsky Theatre

Ligovsky Prospect metro, the stop I get off to go to my Russian classes. I went to meet Olga my teacher before going to the Mariinsky theatre where I saw the Nutcracker with Jula and Igor. During the intermission they had a traditional Russian band. They were great, there was one musician with a massive balalaika somewhat comical. The ballet was fantastic, set design by Mihail Chemiakin, imaginative and bright, vaguely reminiscent of charlie and chocolate factory (the original quality version).
